Während meines letzten Aufenthalts in England zog es mich magisch nach Stratford-upon-Avon, der Geburtsstadt von William Shakespeare und seiner Frau. Die Stadt entpuppte sich als wahrhaft zauberhaft. Man kann endlos durch die Gassen schlendern, in einem der vielen Restaurants oder Cafés verweilen und die Zeit genießen. Überall in der Stadt stößt man auf Spuren Shakespeares, sei es in Form einer Statue von ihm oder seiner Frau Anne oder durch Aufführungen seiner Werke wie “Hamlet” oder “Romeo und Julia”. Shakespeares Geburtshaus, heute ein Museum, befindet sich im Herzen der Stadt. Eine Flussfahrt auf dem Avon ist ebenfalls sehr empfehlenswert. Im Vergleich zu London ist die Stadt lebendig, aber weniger überfüllt, viel gemütlicher und uriger. Ein Besuch in Stratford lohnt sich definitiv!

During my last stay in England, I was magically drawn to Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare and his wife. The town turned out to be truly magical. You can stroll endlessly through the alleyways, linger in one of the many restaurants or cafés and enjoy your time. There are traces of Shakespeare everywhere in the city, be it in the form of a statue of him or his wife Anne or through performances of his works such as „Hamlet“ or „Romeo and Juliet“. Shakespeare’s birthplace, now a museum, is located in the heart of the city. A river cruise on the Avon is also highly recommended. Compared to London, the city is lively but less crowded, much cozier and quainter. A visit to Stratford is definitely worthwhile!
