Während meines Urlaubs in Irland hatte ich das Vergnügen, die Grafschaften Donegal und Mayo zu erkunden. In Burtonport ließ ich mich in einem urigen Pub nieder, wo ich ein köstliches Guinness genoss und einen exquisiten Hummer verspeiste. Die Nachmittage verbrachte ich unter der wärmenden Sonne am Sandstrand von Tirraun, dessen Schönheit den südlichen Stränden Europas in nichts nachsteht. An einem anderen Tag stand die Besichtigung des Donegal Schlosses und der Maghera Höhlen samt dazugehörigem Strand auf dem Programm. Nicht zu vergessen ist der Assaranca Wasserfall, der sich majestätisch entlang der Route erstreckt. Das Freilichtmuseum in Glencolumcille gab mir einen authentischen Einblick in das frühere Leben in Irland und die Architektur der Häuser. Zudem erwies sich der Leuchtturm bei Blacksod, der laut dem Leuchtturmwärter im Zweiten Weltkrieg eine entscheidende Rolle spielte, als ein Highlight meiner Reise.

During my vacation in Ireland, I had the pleasure of exploring the counties of Donegal and Mayo. In Burtonport, I settled down in a quaint pub where I enjoyed a delicious Guinness and an exquisite lobster. I spent the afternoons under the warming sun on the sandy beach of Tirraun, whose beauty is in no way inferior to the southern beaches of Europe. On another day, I visited Donegal Castle and the Maghera Caves and beach. Not forgetting the Assaranca Waterfall, which stretches majestically along the route. The open-air museum in Glencolumcille gave me an authentic insight into life in Ireland in the past and the architecture of the houses. In addition, the lighthouse at Blacksod, which according to the lighthouse keeper played a crucial role in the Second World War, proved to be a highlight of my trip.
