Conwy und Trefriw in Wales

Nach meiner Ankunft in Wales mit der Fähre aus Dublin zog es mich zuerst zu dem Ort mit dem bemerkenswert langen Namen, den man kaum aussprechen kann: Llanfair­pwllgwyngyll­gogery­chwyrn­drobwll­llan­tysilio­gogo­goch. Trotz seiner Unscheinbarkeit hat der Ort durch diesen Marketingtrick Aufmerksamkeit erregt – und ich muss zugeben, dass ich darauf hereingefallen bin. Mein nächstes Ziel war Conwy, wo ich die beeindruckende Burg direkt am Meer besuchte. Der Anblick der Züge, die durch einen Torbogen der Burg fahren, war besonders malerisch. Die Altstadt von Conwy versetzte mich mit ihrem mittelalterlichen Flair zurück in die Zeit. Sowohl der Strand als auch der Hafen waren malerisch, und das kleinste Haus Europas, das sich ebenfalls in Conwy befindet, war einen Besuch wert. Schließlich erreichte ich mein Hotel in Fairy Falls, wo ich zu einem nahegelegenen Wasserfall wanderte und den Abend in einem typisch walisischen Restaurant ausklingen ließ – ein Erlebnis, das ich nur empfehlen kann. Es war einfach wunderbar.

After arriving in Wales on the ferry from Dublin, I was first drawn to the place with the remarkably long name that you can barely pronounce: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllllantysiliogogogoch. Despite its inconspicuousness, the place has attracted attention with this marketing ploy – and I have to admit that I fell for it. My next destination was Conwy, where I visited the impressive castle right by the sea. The sight of the trains passing through an archway of the castle was particularly picturesque. The old town of Conwy took me back in time with its medieval flair. Both the beach and the harbor were picturesque, and the smallest house in Europe, also located in Conwy, was well worth a visit. I finally reached my hotel in Fairy Falls, where I hiked to a nearby waterfall and ended the evening in a typical Welsh restaurant – an experience I can only recommend. It was simply wonderful.
