Während meiner jüngsten Erkundungstour in Irland machte ich auch einen Abstecher nach Nordirland. Da ich schon in der Gegend war, ließ ich es mir nicht nehmen, einen berühmten Drehort aus “Game of Thrones” zu besichtigen – The Dark Hedges. Diese beeindruckende Allee aus Bäumen erscheint in der Serie zwar etwas anders, ist aber auch in Wirklichkeit absolut sehenswert. Besucher müssen ihre Autos am Eingang parken, da der Ort bei Touristen sehr beliebt ist. Ich vermute, dass die Serie diesen Ort erst richtig bekannt gemacht hat. Später zog es mich weiter zur Nordküste Nordirlands, wo ich den Giant’s Causeway besuchte. Die Küste ist übersät mit zahlreichen Felsformationen, die durch die Einwirkung von Wasser entstanden sind. Ein einheimischer Ire teilte uns die dazugehörige Legende mit, die von einem Streit zwischen zwei Riesen handelt. Die Küsten Irlands sind atemberaubend und die Luft dort ist unglaublich frisch.

During my recent exploration tour of Ireland, I also made a detour to Northern Ireland. Since I was already in the area, I made sure to visit a famous filming location from “Game of Thrones” – The Dark Hedges. This impressive avenue of trees may look a little different in the series, but it is absolutely worth seeing in reality. Visitors have to park their cars at the entrance as the place is very popular with tourists. I suspect that the series really made this place famous. Later, I moved on to the north coast of Northern Ireland, where I visited the Giant’s Causeway. The coastline is littered with numerous rock formations created by the action of water. A local Irishman told us the legend behind it, which is about a fight between two giants. The coasts of Ireland are breathtaking and the air there is incredibly fresh.
